Adds feed reading, notifications, favicons, and other enhancements to Live Bookmarks. (Addon for Firefox)

LiveClick 0.3.5.0 Beta

Due to the number of new features in the next version of LiveClick, I’ve decided to beta test 0.3.5.0 before publicly releasing it. Please be aware that you may encounter unexpected problems with this build. Download only if you like to live on the bleeding edge and can’t wait for the official release. Also note that the beta is available in English only. If you find any bugs, please leave a comment in this thread, along with your OS and Firefox version.

Download v0.3.5.0 Beta (Firefox 3.0 - 3.5)

After installing LiveClick 0.3.5.0, make sure your interval time and styles are the way you want them in LiveClick’s Options dialog. Changes in LiveClick 0.3.5.0 likely reset these settings.

0.3.5.0 Changelog:
+ Option to show new (or unread) count next to livemark title [Details…]
+ Restored ability to set custom Site Locations for Live Bookmarks [Details…]
+ Option to set custom update times per Live Bookmark [Details…]
+ Option to set custom monitor actions per Live Bookmark [Details…]
+ Option to monitor all Live Bookmarks, including new ones, by default
+ Added “Reset New Count” command to Bookmarks > Live Bookmarks submenu
+ Added “Clear Live Bookmarks History” command to LiveClick Options
+ Bug fix: Bookmarks > Subscribe to This Page appears more consistently
+ Bug fix: Debug mode keyboard shortcuts disabled when not in debug mode
+ Bug fix: Export settings: monitored feeds more accurately saved
* Rearranged General, Reading options panes
* Removed uses of the term “fresh” in favor of the more intuitive “new”  [Details…]

Known issues:
- Live Bookmarks history inconsistent while in Private Browsing mode
- “Check for New Items Now” brute forces reloadAllLivemarks instead of staggered check like Livemarks service start()
- [Ext] Xmarks wants to re-sync more often when using custom Site Locations
- Conflict with [Ext] CompactMenu: Bookmarks Menu (button) > Live Bookmarks submenu doesn’t open

Again, if you find any bugs or have any questions, please leave a comment in this thread, along with your OS and Firefox version. Thanks for all your help!

Next entry: LiveClick 0.3.5.0 Beta 2

Previous entry: Accounting for Counters

Problem with location resetting seems to persist.
And no custom update times either.
Perhaps I need to uninstall & reinstall?

Running with quite a lot of other extensions however…
Is there a way to gather debug info for you other than manually?

You shouldn’t need to uninstall/reinstall to get those features working, though you may need to restart Firefox after changing an individual Live Bookmark’s update interval.

There’s no mechanism in place for easy debugging. Can you tell me if any of your extensions alter bookmarks in any way? Also, can you give me the URL of the feed whose location you’re trying to change? Oh, and it would help if you say what OS and Firefox version you’re using.

Thanks for your support!

I’ve noticed in version 0.3.4.0. After middle-clicking feed links (with keep menu open), normal link highlighting becomes unaligned: meaning the link just above the one my cursor is hovering over is highlighted instead. then after some flipping in an out of the feed menu its normal again.

This glitch make it hard to speed open link in multi-feeds.

By the way I use FireFox-Portable on WinXP ...previous versions worked well with LiveClick

If this has been fixed in the new version ...Thank You for such a useful add-on.

WPJ: That bug should be fixed in 0.3.5.0. You can test the beta for yourself to make sure. Thanks for the comment.

LiveClick beta 3.5 is not compatible with FireFox 3.5.1

Beta not compatible with latest FireFox Official Release 3.5.2

Would love to help with testing, but can’t.

Hey, testing on 3.6a1, the toolbar Customize window doesn’t clear itself properly when this beta’s installed (menus are disabled and Customize is grayed out after closing the window). Deja Vu?

Also screws up the Identity Box, making it stick when switching between tabs.

With 0.3.4 i had an outline to the livemark icons that showed a new feed, the code i had in my userchrome was this:

.bookmark-item[liveclickfeed=“6”] > .toolbarbutton-icon
{
  border: 1px solid #33FF00 !important;
}

With the beta i get no outline. I had a quick look through the code but could not find anything obvious.

Ha! Just as i posted it i remembered that all the settings were reset so i needed to change the New Livemarks option back to Orange.

So everything is working fine now. i really appreciate this one over all the other RSS feeds ive used. Great add-on, keep up the good work smile

I’m using Portable FireFox 3.5.3

when is the new LiveClick coming out?

this one is perfect all i need is for it not to lag FF out when loading new RSS feeds.

Thank you

Still working out some annoying bugs with the latest version. I’ve even considered scaling back some of the features that were intended for it.

If you’ve tested the beta, please comment on your experience with it. I haven’t had as much feedback as I’d like and I want to be thorough before I officially release it.

Wow good to know. I like pretty much like all LiveClick features. I like the counting, pop-up info, and high-lighting feature.

I don’t use the automatic up date notice feature only because I only have limited time on the internet at any given time.

The Pop-up info saves me much clicking. Mostly I set Read links to faded and new ones to Bold instead of orange, but I do like the color…just not RSS titles as they where always Orange.

maybe you could add a RSS update-at-stat-up feature for favorites and ignore the rest.
I like seeing the activity-circle indicator of the feed being updated.

I’m still using 1Gb 2006 flash dive maybe if I had new one things would go faster but FF did lag when updating the Feed thats the only bummer. maybe you planned this already ...something to manage the way LiveClick saves read/unread feed info.

I did try think about switching to another RSS reader one but most are show to much info or to little.

hope this helps

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that as of the 10/6/09 Branch build, LiveClick is broken and spews a bunch of assertion failures.

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1519975 is the relevant thread with the list of checkins and whatnot.rat

Posted by Ibrahim  on  10/07  at  07:30 PM

LiveClick doesn’t work on any Branch builds, just yet. I have the problem fixed, but I want to test it for a few more days before I apply the changes to what will be version 0.3.5.0 Beta 2. Expect an update on this site, no later than the official Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 release date.

Thanks for the notice!

LiveClick 0.3.5.0 Beta 2 is available here:
http://projects.protej.com/index.php?/liveclick/comments/liveclick_0350_beta2/

This build should work on Firefox 3, Firefox 3.5, and Firefox 3.6b1, but it won’t work on Firefox 3.6a1.

If you’re using LiveClick 0.3.5.0b1, please update to this version and let me know if you encounter any problems. I’ll try to post the final 0.3.5.0 build when Firefox 3.6 Beta 1 is officially released.
