About LiveClick

Adds feed reading, notifications, favicons, and other enhancements to Live Bookmarks. (Addon for Firefox)

LiveClick 0.4.0.0

After a lengthy development and several beta tests, the final version of LiveClick 0.4.0.0 is now available for download. Much of the code was rewritten to accomplish several new features, notably an improved live bookmark checker and scheduler, the ability to style parent folders like their child livemarks, and a LiveClick toolbar button for one-click checking. Note that these changes may conflict with other addons that manage live bookmarks. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with LiveClick 0.4.0.0.

I suppose I better reply here, heh. Thanks a lot again! Will report any bugs I come across.

hm, 0.4 doesnt work for me. new entries are not highlighting the folders, favicons dont show up. after some messing with it i went back to 0.36

Posted by sven  on  03/04  at  05:15 PM

Count of new items not shown.

Posted by alex  on  03/04  at  08:38 PM

I have uninstalled and reinstalled this version of LiveClick. I have changed the visual settings. All to no avail. The folder names remain in bold, even if all of the entries have been read. I must check each individual folder to see if there are new entries, instead of simply glancing at the folder titles to see if any are in bold/unfaded. Please fix this. Thanks.

@bob: that was exactly what i experienced. hopefully it will get fixed, because the new version seems to work much faster than pre 0.4

nonetheless I would like to use this opportunity to thank the developer for this project. It is definetely my favorite addon for FF and a tremendous timesaver - thank you for your effort and making this available to the public!

Posted by sven  on  03/05  at  07:21 AM

Yep, same problem as sven and bob.  Hope it gets fixed soon.

Apologies if you’re experiencing problems with the latest LiveClick. It would help me a lot if I could get a little more information from you all:

1) Are you using Firefox 3.6 or Firefox 4.0?
2) Do you see the same style problems in either LiveClick 0.3.6.0 or LiveClick 0.3.8.0? (Clicking either link should prompt you to install; please test both if you can.)

Thanks!

I’m not experiencing any problems with this build on FFb12 so far. I’m not using any feeds that come with their own favicons though so I can’t say anything about that feature.

Posted by cyruz  on  03/05  at  03:15 PM

using FF 3.6.14 here, Liveclick 0.3.6.0 works great, showing none of the problems described above

Posted by sven  on  03/05  at  03:17 PM

just tested- Liveclick 0.3.8.0 works fine, too. have subscribed to ~70 feeds

Posted by sven  on  03/05  at  03:24 PM

I tried .4 version and had several issues with FF 3.6. New items were not hilighted in Orange or bold, the same with folders containing feeds. The “mark all items read” option did not mark anything as read until FF was restarted. I went back to .37 and it is functioning as before.

One more question for those of you with the style problem: do you see the correct count of new items listed next to the live bookmark’s title? If anyone wants to send me a screenshot of the problem, that would be great, too.

For those having issues with the count not working, the problem will be with another add-on. You must test liveclick with all other add-ons disabled to find the culprit. In my case it was Cutemenus causing all my problems. The add-on has not been updated for ages and has many conflicts with other add-ons

Posted by error  on  03/06  at  06:41 PM

1. FF 3.6.15
2. The previous version of LiveClick works fine. (What I’m currently using.)

Posted by Bob  on  03/07  at  07:09 AM

@error: You’re wrong about that. I deactivated all other add-ons, Liveclick problem still persists.

Posted by sven  on  03/07  at  07:21 AM

Second Bob’s comment:  version 0.3.8.0 works fine with Firefox 3.6.15.

Here’s a new build (0.4.1.0a1) that addresses four bugs:
- FIXED Live bookmarks/parent folders not styling in Bookmarks menu (Fx3.6)
- FIXED Live bookmark/parent folder state changes broadcast twice
- FIXED Alerts appearing on non-monitored feeds when set to repeat
- FIXED Dragging items into folders not auto-opening folders (Fx3.5-3.6)

Install LiveClick 0.4.1.0a1 now. I don’t think this fixes all the bugs yet, but it’s another step in the right direction. Please report any improvements, reversions, or whatever else that needs reporting.

Installed the new build, and I see the parent folder highlighting now.  Numbering is correct and “mark all as read” is working.  Thanks!

Getting error messages with 3.6.15 and liveclick

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: chrome://liveclick/content/liveclcik.js:660

Continue stop script <<as buttons

Firefox becomes unresponsive for a bit even if stop script is selected.

J: By any chance, do you subscribe to any feeds with lots of items (i.e. 100 or more)?

Posted by protejohnny  on  03/08  at  01:27 PM

I have about 19 separate feeds the Google and BBC feeds probably have well over 50 each haven’t counted but they are long lists.  This only started after 3.6.15 update which I believe was supposed to address a java issue.  Those two feeds have been there for a while now.  If there is a way to limit them and if that fixed the issue I would be good with that.

The latest build (0.4.1.0a2) handles several more issues, in addition to the ones listed above:
- FIXED Proxy state fetching takes a long time with many-itemed feeds
- FIXED Visiting a proxied item doesn’t always update styles
- FIXED Proxies not sanitized when items orphaned
- FIXED Unknown states should count as unread, not new
- FIXED Changing styles or menu options shouldn’t require browser restart
- PARTIAL FIX Themed livemark icons resize when they should region

Install LiveClick 0.4.1.0a2 now. Assuming this build addresses the major bugs reported in this thread and introduces no reversions, I hope to release this as the final 0.4.1.0. Please let me know if it works for you or not.

Problem seems to be resolved. Thank you.

Posted by Bob  on  03/09  at  04:15 PM

I have error “Live Bookmark feed failed to load.” when updating feeds below. (they are Japanese)

http://mainichi.jp/rss/etc/mainichi.rss
http://www.jiji.com/rss/ranking.rdf
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/rss/sci.xml

This may be due to invalid code, but I have no problem with ver. 0.3.8.0 and before, or without LiveClick.

Does ver. 0.4 have strict checking?

Posted by Okaji  on  03/10  at  09:52 PM

i had a problem with the feed count not updating properly after updating to 0.4.1.0a2

sometimes it would repeat the same value and other times it would add the new count ontop of that value

i used sqlite manager addon to view the moz_items_annos settings and discovered that some of the anno_attributes such as liveclick/proxy (there was another but i cant remember which one) were set on the monitored feeds where it was happening

so i decided to delete and rebuild my places.sqlite database… will see how it goes
