LiveClick 0.4.1.0
With every major update, there is bound to be a quick-fix update released only a few days later. LiveClick 0.4.1.0 is the quick-fix build. The latest version addresses several bugs that arose in LiveClick 0.4.0.0 and offers a couple of optimizations. There are no new features in this one, but it is recommended that you update to it, even if you weren’t experiencing any problems. As always, I appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have. Thanks!

Can’t reproduce Tim’s error. If I click on ‘Open WebsiteXYZ’ it takes me to the website just like it should. FF4RC1.

I’m kind of annoyed I didn’t catch this particular problem sooner. Anyway, I’m going to take advantage of AMO’s new beta channel to push fixes more quickly than usual. Download LiveClick 0.4.2.0a1.

- FIXED Clicking livemarks in Bookmarks Menu Button fails to open location (Fx4.0)
- FIXED Live bookmarks in Bookmarks Menu Button aren’t marked as unread after viewing (Fx4.0)
* Live Bookmarks submenu added to Bookmarks Menu Button (Fx4.0)
* Live Bookmarks submenu moved after subscribe commands

I allowed the update to 0.4.1.0 under Ubuntu 9.10 and immediately had weird issues and had to back up to 0.3.8. Menu choices like “mark all as read” were not showing up, new items were showing up at the bottom of the lists. Frequently Liveclick would indicate new items, but none would be orange in the list. Also I think it kept marking the same ones new and I wasn’t seeing actual new headlines come in. I kept having to right click the bookmark and reset the count to get the menu options to appear. This version needs more cooking for Ubuntu 9.10 with Firefox 3.6.15.

I’m trying LiveClicks in Firefox 4.0RC1 on Fedora 13 GNU/Linux.
I’ve followed the FAQ and set my middlemouse settings as per “Why doesn’t LiveClick work with livemarks on the bookmarks toolbar?”.
The problem: Middlemouse clicks on feed items only become marked read when that feed has any items marked as new; the item doesn’t open at all (not in a new tab, not in the current tab). When I mark all the items as read the feed items can be middle-clicked and open as instructed in LiveClick’s preferences.

I tried LiveClicks 0.4.1.0 on Firefox 3.6.15 on MacOS X 10.6.6 as well and the same bug (what I described above) is there: middle-clicks fail on any feed menu where there are non-read items present.
The same workaround seems to apply: mark everything read then middle-clicks work again.
I was using LiveClicks 0.4.1.0 on GNU/Linux above.
If there’s a better way to report bugs in this add-on, please direct me to that place and I’ll post bug reports there.

Hi
I use firefox 4.0-rc-1 with LiveClick 0.4.1.0. I got by the sides “http//www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml” or/and “http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise.rdf” no updates. In my livebookmark i got this error: Live Bookmark feed failed to load. Can you check this.
Thank you.

Hi
Correction:
“http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml” and not “http//www.heise.de/newsticker/heise-atom.xml”
Sorry

I’ve been running into a few issues with 0.4.1 (Windows 7, Firefox 4 rc1).
The Click Livemarks settings do not seem to be applied. For example, I have Left Click set to Open location, but this seems to do nothing. Middle click is set to Open location in a tab, but instead this opens all of the feed items in separate tabs. Ctrl Click seems to act in much the same way. I often middle click livemarks to open the site in question, but now end up having to close a load of tabs each time.
Viewing a Livemark no longer resets the new count, despite the option being set for this. I have to mouse-over each item to reset the new status, or mark everything in the feed as read.
Would have gone back to 0.3.8.0 but that doesn’t work with FF4.

LiveClick has stopped working properly!
I can’t get LC to hide visited entries anymore AT ALL. All entries always stay visible after opening a LC bookmark and/or after visiting one or more of the entries. Only the LC icon itself gets greyed out correctly. The rest of it is not working. :(
Pls. instruct how this can be fixed,
Thanks David.P

Love this add-on. It gets me back the functionality I had in IE8 and then some. The upgrade to FF4 seems to have broken LiveClick though. My feeds update but the menu options to mark all feeds read seems to have vanished. The only menu option that appears is the one to open the RSS source site. I downloaded/installed the build of 0.4.2.0a1 but it didn’t seem to change anything. I would definitely donate to the developer if this extension gets fully functional for FF4 again!

Oh I stand corrected. Did some right-clicking in the drop-down and it looks like all the functionality is right there! Just a little misleading in the options now but no problems! Contributing…

Sorry about not responding sooner. I’ve been a bit busy of late and haven’t yet had a chance to work on an update.
The items not hiding is a bug. I’ll try to fix that and other reported problems when I get a chance.
Thanks for your patience and your support!

4.1.0 is working great on my mac (10.6.7), but I have a problem - I cannot deselect monitored rss feeds.
When I click the checkbox to deselect, then close liveclick options, the box is ticked again when I reopen options. Any solutions?

I’m having the same issue many others have been listing since version 0.4.x with the “live bookmark feed failed to load”. This is occurring with all of my personalized tvrage rss feeds for example (http://www.tvrage.com/myrss.php?tid=51039&hash=712ce52b8b601924360c590a33710631) but I never had this problem with any 0.3.x version. Removing the feed and re-adding it allows it to load once but it never loads again. Hopefully this is an easy fix and that something can be done eventually. ![]()

I’m seeing the same middle-click issue J.B. Nicholson-Owens posted about above. Is there any information I can provide to help fix this bug?

After months, LiveClick is still not working AT ALL.
I can’t get LiveClick to hide visited entries anymore. All entries always stay visible after opening a LC bookmark and/or after visiting one or more of the entries. Only the LiveClick icon itself gets greyed out. The rest of it is not working. :(
Now, also the “stay open after middle click” option has stopped working.
Seems to me as if the development of LiveClick has been stopped.

You know, I am pretty sure protejohnny doesn’t work on this full time and acting angry over something you get for free that he works on in his SPARE TIME is not very grateful. I am sure development of LiveClick goes through phases depending on how busy he is with the rest of his life. Be patient, please.

Eventually, this blog has changed into a spam squandering abandonment.
Yuck. I’m off.

hi, liveclick seems to be working fine for me,
however im a new user so i dont know how it worked on ff3.
i think it would be a useful tool to have a sound play when there is an update.
this would be helpful for people who are near their computer but not on it, notice updates.
in my case, i use it for purchasing bits and pieces on a few websites and hate having to check manually,
sometimes i maybe full screened and miss out on some goodies that i would otherwise have bought because i didnt know it was listed.
please implement a sound notification option if possible. a chime sound, or something would be great.

Hi there, minor feature request
Could you implement auto menu-closing? I.e. the RSS menu closes when you move the mouse off it after a user-settable delay?
Stay-Open Menu has this option, but it doesn’t work with RSS folders:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6459
This would allow the user to middle-click to open an items, then see the item without having to click again to close the menu.
AND
on mac os x 10.6.7 FF 4.01, Liveclick does not remember when I select new sites for monitoring. Clicked checkboxes are unchecked when I return to prefs. Any chance of a fix?
