Out with the Fresh…
In an attempt to make LiveClick less confusing and more intuitive, the next version will drop use of the term “fresh.” Most users refer to “fresh” items as “new” (or the orange items) anyway, so this change won’t affect most users.
The primary reason LiveClick used the term “fresh” was to prevent monitors from triggering twice. In all other cases, “fresh” items behaved and appeared exactly as “new” items. Since LiveClick now allows for repeating alerts, the distinction between “fresh” and “new” is no longer necessary. Besides, other feed readers only use the term “new,” so the switch brings LiveClick one step closer to accepted practices.
LiveClick users will notice slight changes in the phrasing of certain commands. For instance, you’ll see “Reset new count” instead of “Mark fresh items as unread” and “Open new items in tabs” rather than “Open fresh items in tabs.”
Users that set a non-default style for fresh livemarks or items (e.g. new items are boldface instead of orange text) will have to change LiveClick’s settings again. Further, if you set a style to “Custom,” you must change the relevant lines in your userchrome.css to .bookmark-item[liveclick=“customnew”] or .bookmark-item[liveclickfeed=“customnew”].
The term “fresh” will be dropped in LiveClick 0.3.5.0, which won’t be available for a while. I just wanted to give people a warning of the change, in case there are objections or questions.

Most Live Bookmark users deserve more, whether their lone subscription is to the BBC’s Latest Headlines, or they consume dozens of feeds, from Slashdot news to Dilbert comics to Facebook notifications. Yahoo. thanks…
